‘Mortal Engines’ – A Look Inside Featurette with Producer Peter Jackson

Producer Peter Jackson and the cast and crew of the upcoming sci-fi fantasy epic Mortal Engines discuss the movie in this new video featurette.

Based on the 2001 book of the same name by Philip Reeve, Mortal Engines’ setting is a futuristic, steampunk world where the Earth’s cities are all now on enormous, mechanical rolling vehicles.

Each city survives by devouring smaller cities, but at the film’s core is the story of Hester (Hera Hilmer), who’ll stop at nothing to see the man she blames for her mother’s death – dead.

Hugo Weaving plays the role of Thaddeus Valentine, the target of Hester’s deadly vendetta.

Weaving and Peter Jackson have worked together in the past, in Jackson’s Lord of the Rings (2001-03) films, and is virtually a great casting choice in any film.

Robert Sheehan also stars as Tom, who allies with Hilmer’s Hester after being thrown off the largest roving city in the Mortal Engines universe – London.

There’s a lot to absorb with the concept of this film, however, this new video featurette explains it well, especially coming from the creative mind behind the project.

Regular behind-the-scenes collaborator Christian Rivers directs the film, and it’s due out for release on 26 December 2018.

Check out the new video below for a better understanding of the film’s story, and a look at the epic fantasy-world that’s been created.
