‘The Monster’ – Trailer for New Horror Film

Check out the trailer for the upcoming indie horror film The Monster, from the director of The Strangers Bryan Bertino and starring Zoe Kazan.

The film follows Kazan’s character and what appears to be her daughter, as they face off against a monster in the woods after their car breaks down.

It’s hard to make an assumption about how good this film could be from the below trailer, as it simply sets the scene for what the film is about and doesn’t offer too much in the way of tension, however it looks like the filmmakers have got the look of the film right.

Monster movies can often be hit-and-miss, which of course depends on the screenplay and story, but in the case of independent film, production values tend to have a bearing on the final product.

It looks like Bertino and team have some pretty solid production values for this film, so if they can get a thrilling story to go with it, then it should turn out fine.

Plus these days it seems as though indie-horrors always end up being better than their mainstream counterparts, which is a good reason for horror fans to get hyped for new releases in the genre.

The Monster comes from studio A24, the studio behind films such as Spring Breakers, Swiss Army Man, Ex Machina, and The Witch, amongst others.

The film will see a limited release from 11 November in the USA.
