Keaton plays an attorney with the difficult task of obtaining compensation for the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in Worth for Netflix.
Following the tragic events of the 2001 September 11 attacks, an attorney, Kenneth Feinberg (Keaton), is appointed to channel funds into the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.
He faces the problematic task of placing a dollar value on a person’s life and, through interaction with the victims’ families, begins to see things through a compassionate lens while learning the true cost of the tragedy.
Keaton stars alongside Amy Ryan and Stanley Tucci, each looking like they’re putting on an acting clinic based on this first trailer.
Worth is based on a true story and covers a touchy subject full of emotional weight, making for sentimental viewing.
It’s a subject that hasn’t been discussed much since the attacks and one that’s ripe for a dramatic film treatment.
Following a couple of smaller films, Sara Colangelo directs with a script from Max Borenstein, the writer of Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) and all the other recent Godzilla films.
It’s a strange jump from popcorn blockbuster to something so grounded and moving, though all of the writer’s past works have had a more profound human element to them, though none to this extent.
Worth hits Netflix on 3 September 2021.
