Marvel Shares Touching Tribute Video in Memory of Stan Lee

Marvel has posted a tribute video in memory of comic book icon and heavyweight pop culture influencer, Stan Lee, who recently passed.

Fans around the world were saddened to hear about the passing of one of the most iconic figures in geek-culture, Stan Lee, yesterday the 12th of November 2018.

It’s not fair to only connect Lee with geek-culture, as his influence has a far wider reach in pop culture history.

Lee’s comic book (co)creations, which include the likes of Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Black Panther and the X-Men, were once only reserved for and talked about by a nerd sub-culture.

Fast forward to 2018, and the characters mentioned above (including Stan Lee himself) have penetrated the global media landscape, far beyond the pages of a comic book.

Over the last ten years, Lee’s legendary characters have reached an audience larger than one could ever imagine, with the formation of Marvel Studios and their subsequent epic lineup of films.

Marvel’s superhero films would not have existed without Lee’s input over his fifty-plus year career.

The memorial video which was released by the studio today features some of Marvel’s top executives talking about what Lee meant to them and the company, with footage from the course of the legendary figure’s life.

Lee may not have had an official role at Marvel at the time of his death at the ripe old age of 95, however, it’s without a doubt that he was the spiritual head of the organisation, and has been from day one.

Stan Lee may no longer be with us in person, but his legacy will live on forever.

Check out Marvel’s tribute video below, and beneath that, a supercut of every Stan Lee film and television cameo ever!
