‘Little Monsters’ Trailer – Just Another Zombie Movie (with Heart Though)

movies with heart

Charming and heart might not be the first words you’d consider when thinking of a zombie movie, however, Abe Forsythe’s Little Monsters features them in abundance.

Lupita Nyong’o plays a school teacher, who along with a washed-up musician (Alexander England), chaperones a group of school kids on an excursion to a country fair.

They soon discover that the place is overrun with (slow) zombies and, alongside an obnoxious television personality (Josh Gad), are forced to protect the children from danger.

This is probably the cutest zombie movie trailer you’ll see in a while.

The tone set in the trailer is light-hearted, charming and fun once you can get passed all the brutal violence.

We’ve been overloaded with zombie movies over the decades, though dare I say this one does look like it stands out from the pack.

Little Monsters’ witty humour is its biggest selling point, which is evident in the trailer.

The film is directed by Aussie Abe Forsyth, who made a name for himself with the 2016 Australian comedy film Down Under.

I haven’t seen that one, though it must have impressed some people up above, considering Forsyth was able to nab in-demand actress Lupita Nyong’o, who recently had a star-turn in Jordan Peele’s Us (2019), for this role.

Not since 2004’s Shaun of the Dead has there been a zombie movie that looks this funny and with this much heart, so it will be interesting to see how it’s received by fans.

It arrives in theatres on 15 November 2019.
