The second trailer for the upcoming horror film Lights Out has been released and it appears to have the potential to be scary, however it doesn’t look like it brings anything new to the genre.
In Lights Out, a woman and her son (Teresa Palmer and Gabriel Bateman) are haunted by a demon/spirit/ghost of a woman named Diana whenever the lights are off in their home.
We also find out that the woman’s mother (Maria Bello) has some connection to Diana and it seemed strange that that was revealed in the trailer.
One must assume their must be more twists in the film as that felt like it should have been left alone in the trailer.
The film stars Australia’s Teresa Palmer, along with Gabriel Bateman and Maria Bello.
While the film could go either way in terms of the fear factor, it is at least being produced by James Wan who directed The Conjuring 1 and 2.
The look of the film does seem to have a similar style to that of Wan’s earlier work, which appears to suit mainstream audiences well as he’s made a name for himself on the mainstream horror film circuit.
We’ll just have to see if director David F. Sandberg, whose making his directorial debut here can pull this off under the guidance of Wan.
Lights Out is due for release on the 21st of July in Australia and you can find links to book tickets on our Upcoming Movies page.
