Two new clips have been released for Derek Cianfrance’s latest film The Light Between Oceans, starring power-couple Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander.
The two short clips from the movie feature its leads as well as supporting actress Rachel Weisz, giving us a glimpse at the tone set in the film.
For anyone unfamiliar with Cianfrace’s work, he is a master at dramatic storytelling, and while his past films such as Blue Valentine and A Place Beyond the Pines were brilliant, they can rest heavy on the soul.
The Light Between Oceans tells the story of the lighthouse keeper Tom (Fassbender) and his wife Isabel (Alicia), who live on a remote island off Western Australia.
They live a relatively quiet life until one day they rescue an abandoned baby found adrift, only years later discovering the devastating consequences of the decision they made that day, as we learn more about the baby’s story.
The film stars the real-life couple in the lead roles and features Rachel Weisz, Australians Bryan Brown and Jack Thompson in supporting roles.
It’s based off the global best-selling book of the same name by Australian author M. L. Stedman and it hits Australian cinemas on 3 November 2016.
Cianfrance is a highly acclaimed young director, so this is one to certainly check out when it’s released, especially for all drama film fans.
