‘The Commuter’ – Trailer for Liam Neeson’s Latest Action Thriller

Liam Neeson is back at it again in the latest thriller from director Jaume Collet-Serra’s (The Shallows, Non-Stop)The Commuter.

Neeson plays an unsuspecting passenger on a commuter train, when he’s conned into solving a life-or-death puzzle by a stranger (Vera Farmiga).

Neeson has made a name for himself in the action-thriller genre over the last decade (since 2008’s Taken), to the point of becoming typecast as an action hero in this latter stage of his career.

Though you might be getting tired of seeing the actor in these types of roles, there is obviously a big desire by fans to keep seeing him in these roles as he still returns to them.

Not only that, the action-thrillers he’s been headlining all seem to have somewhat similar plots, so what makes The Commuter stand out from the rest?

Well, judging by the trailer, not too much.

However, it does seem to tick all the boxes required of a film in this genre, so at the very least it should be an entertaining romp.

Jaume Collet-Serra is at the helm, who previously directed 2016’s underwhelming shark-horror film The Shallows (see our review here) as well as 2014’s plane-set action thriller, Non-Stop.

The Commuter really does look like Non-Stop on a train as opposed to a plane, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as I thought Non-Stop was quite enjoyable.

Joining Neeson is a talented supporting cast that includes Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Sam Neill and Jonathan Banks.

The film hits cinemas on  11 January 2018.
