A pregnancy upends a fun-loving woman’s dreams so she and her partner will try to live them out before the baby is born in the new Kiwi comedy film, Baby Done.
Comedian Rose Matafeo plays Zoe, an adventurous young woman who falls pregnant and realises that she’s yet to follow her dreams before being locked into raising a child with her partner, Tim (Matthew Lewis).
The pair decide to mark off as many items on their bucket list as possible before the baby is born, sending them on a journey of self-discovery.
This heartfelt new Kiwi comedy film comes to us from the production team behind the popular films The Breaker Upperers (2018) and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016).
Superstar director Taika Waititi of Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Jojo Rabbit (2019) fame also serves as an executive producer on the film, which in classic New Zealand comedy-cinema style, looks like it will be a humorous, but touching take on the highs and lows that come with pregnancy.
Rose Matafeo and Matthew Lewis are excellently cast in the lead roles, with Matafeo delivering a great blend of dry humor and drama when necessary.
Comedy films out of New Zealand always make for emotional viewing experiences, and offer deeper messages that most people can relate to.
The film is due for release some time in 2020.
