This awesome new trailer gives us more of a look at the highly stylised Guy Ritchie adaptation of the classic King Arthur fable.
The film tells the story of the common man Arthur, who reluctantly becomes King of England after removing the mythical sword in the stone.
The film looks like it will be full of mystical elements as well as the classic tale of Arthur’s battle to overthrow the current, evil King.
Guy Ritchie directs Charlie Hunnam in this visually spectacular adaptation, that also stars Annabelle Wallis, Aidan Gillen, Djimon Hounsou, Jude Law and Eric Bana.
It’s great casting and always nice to see Australia’s Eric Bana in any new high-profile film.
Even though the Arthur story has been covered numerous times on film, we can expect Guy Ritchie to offer a fresh take on the legend, or at the very least, a uniquely stylised version of it.
Ritchie has worked his way up in the industry over the last 20 years and has still managed to retain his signature style, which works just as well in his earlier independent films like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) and Snatch (2000), as it does with his more recent films like Sherlock Holmes (2009) and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015).
Ritchie’s latest films have all been very entertaining and it’s good to see him keep getting high-profile gigs, though it would be awesome to see him re-visit his roots at some point in the future as well, and give us a quirky new British gangster comedy film for instance.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword releases across cinemas on 11 May 2017.
