Acclaimed writer David Koepp reunites with Kevin Bacon for the new Blumhouse-produced haunted house horror film You Should Have Left.
Bacon plays a screenwriter who takes his family to a remote countryside house for a working vacation where he can focus on writing a sequel to his hit film.
He soon discovers that the house is not all it appears to be; there are rooms that measure longer on the inside than the outside and rooms and stairwells that look like optical illusions.
Furthermore, the house seems to be harboring some sinister, supernatural elements that haunt the writer and his family.
You Should Have Left is undeniably creepy, though it does feature a lot of classic horror movie tropes.
Despite this, the film should make for intriguing viewing and the team behind the scenes are some of the best in the business.
Blumhouse is at the forefront of modern horror cinema, having released some recent gems including The Invisible Man (2020), Upgrade (2018), Happy Death Day (2017), and its sequel Happy Death Day 2U (2019), amongst many other highly entertaining horror and thriller films.
Writer-director David Koepp has written some amazing screenplays over the years which include the likes of Jurassic Park (1993) and Spider-Man (2002).
The experience of Koepp with the producing power of Blumhouse makes for an excellent pairing, with Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried a highly capable, charismatic couple fronting the film’s principal cast.
You Should Have Left arrives on VOD everywhere on 19 June 2020.
