The latest Japanese Anime from director Makoto Shinkai receives a limited theatrical run across Australia and New Zealand from November 24.
Madman Entertainment has announced that the film will be released in cinemas for a limited theatrical run from November 24 in Australia, and December 1 in New Zealand.
The film has achieved massive success in Japan, with audiences coming out in droves to see it.
It has been sitting at #1 on the Japanese box office for nine weeks straight now, and as earned $158.1 million USD so far.
The film is currently #9 on Japan’s highest grossing films of all time list.
That’s an incredible accomplishment for the film, and going by the trailer below it looks as though it may be warranted.
The trailer doesn’t reveal too much, but we get a look at the basic ‘trading places’ sci-fi premise the film is going for, as well as a look at the beautiful animation in the film, which is a normality in most Japanese Anime.

Mitsuha and Taki are two total strangers living completely different lives. But when Mitsuha makes a wish to leave her mountain town and for the bustling city of Tokyo, they become connected in a bizarre way.
