The upcoming Halloween is set 40 years after the original film and sees Jamie Lee Curtis back in the role that made her famous, as she sets out to kill her murderous brother, horror-movie icon Michael Myers.

After escaping from prison, serial killer Michael Myers (Nick Castle) returns to the town where he went on a killing spree four decades prior, to find his sister, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), is ready to welcome him – with a shotgun in hand.

The first trailer lays out the simple plot for viewers, and it’s one that we’ve seen play out multiple times before.

Halloween appears to be a classic slasher-horror film, just like it was back in 1978 when John Carpenter’s original version was first released; a film that redefined the horror genre.

Since then there’s been several Halloween follow-ups, and a reboot in 2007 from director Rob Zombie that didn’t fare too well critically, or commercially.

Director David Gordon Green is at the helm this time around and judging by the first trailer, it looks as though this version of Halloween will deliver the goods.

The fact that it’s a direct follow-up to the original, as well as the return of Jamie Lee Curtis makes it a lot more exciting.

And more than anything, it does look like a classic scare-fest.

The film hits cinemas on 18 October 2018.
