Pixar’s Latest Heartwarming Animated Film ‘Soul’ Heads to Disney+

heartwarming movies

The heartwarming film, Soul, from Disney-Pixar, is bypassing cinemas for a direct-to-streaming release on Disney+, making it super-accessible for fans over the holiday period.

Soul follows the story of a music teacher named Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), who has always dreamed of performing jazz music on-stage.

After finally living his dream, Gardner succumbs to a fateful accident that separates his soul from his body, and he ends up in ‘The Great Before’ (aka Purgatory), a place where souls gain personalities before being sent to Earth to inhabit their bodies.

It’s there that Joe and his soul friends learn and grow together to get ready for their eventual journey back to life.

The film looks like a classic, heartwarming Disney-Pixar animated movie that’s full of life lessons for its young audience and is sure to be a hit with fans.

Disney has opted to skip a theatrical release for the film, instead choosing to send it straight to its streaming platform.

This move would generally have been unprecedented, however, considering the state of the world in 2020, and the mass-closures of cinemas, Disney doesn’t seem to have many other options.

Nevertheless, there are over 60 million subscribers to the popular streaming service, giving Soul a good opportunity to be successful for the powerhouse media company.

Check out the trailer below, and sign up to Disney+ here to check out Soul when it releases on 25 December 2020.
