If Twitter users are to be believed, then we should be in for a treat with the upcoming Melissa McCarthy-starring The Happytime Murders.
The film is a murder-mystery set in the seedy Los Angeles underbelly, where puppets and humans coexist.
McCarthy plays a detective who’s out to find a puppet-killer.
The new trailer highlights the responses from Twitter users that have seen the film, with all of them being excitedly positive.
These aren’t the puppets/muppets you may be used to.
The Happytime Murders is a puppets movie for adults, featuring lots of sex, violence and drug use.
If you missed it, you can see more of what I mean in the film’s first trailer here.
It’s definitely a unique take on a modern comedy and it makes you wonder if the puppet gimmick will actually work.
Based on the trailers we’ve seen so far, it certainly looks funny – strange but funny.
The film is directed by Brian Henson, of the famed Jim Henson Company.
It stars Melissa McCarthy, Bill Barretta, Maya Rudolph, Joel McHale, and Elizabeth Banks.
It is scheduled for release on 23 August 2018.
