The new The Grinch trailer sees the Christmas-hating grump on some new misadventures while revealing that the Grinch may actually have a heart.
The classic Dr Seuss story of ‘The Grinch’ forms the basis of Illumination Studios’ 8th animated feature and sees the title character set out to steal Christmas from the happy many, only to have his heart changed by an optimistic young girl.
Benedict Cumberbatch voices the lead character, with more cast members yet to be announced.
The new trailer reveals a bit of the Grinch’s origin story, which teases the fact that he’s more misguided than anything (being an orphan and always having missed out on Christmas growing up, could do that to you).
We also see some of the hijinx the Grinch and his crew get up to, as well as a look at the familiar animation style, which has featured prominently in Illumination’s other films like Despicable Me (2010), Minions (2015) and The Secret Life of Pets (2016).
Illumination has had hit after hit with their original properties and sequels, and The Grinch will surely follow suit.
It is directed by Yarrow Cheney and Scott Mosier and is due out in cinemas on 9 November 2018.
