‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ Tells the Story of Winnie the Pooh Franchise

Goodbye Christopher Robin

The new film Goodbye Christopher Robin is set to be released in Australia this November, telling the story of author A.A. Milne and the creation of the Winnie the Pooh franchise.

The film is directed by Simon Curtis and stars Domhnall Gleeson as Alan Milne and Margot Robbie as Daphne Milne, with their on-screen son Christopher Robin played by Will Tilston (representing the character as a young child) and also by Alex Lawther (as a teen).

The film tells the story of writer Alan Milne and how whilst recovering from the war, he was inspired by his son Christopher Robin’s collection of toys to create the Winnie the Pooh book series.

The film is set in the 1920’s where England is still recovering from the first World War, as is the character of A.A. Milne who is struggling to find his way in the post-war world, and is shown to suffer from detailed day-terrors and flashbacks from his time as a solider.

It will be interesting to see how seriously this film takes its responsibility of discussing and including the subject of PTSD, and how this will be juxtaposed with the imagination of Christopher Robin that will give light to the creation of the much-loved franchise.

Goodbye Christopher Robin is to be released in Australia on 23 November 2017, check out the trailer below.
