Gerard Butler plays a family man who will stop at nothing to get his loved ones to safety during a cataclysmic event in Greenland.
The world is on the verge of ending after a comet strikes, causing chaos amongst its citizens.
Butler plays John Garrity, who alongside his estranged wife (Morena Baccarin) and young son must fight for survival as they attempt to seek refuge in a safe-house.
The family will not only have to protect themselves from the planet-destroying comet fragments, but also the vicious human element standing in their way.
Gerard Butler is best known for his roles in mindless action films like the recent Angel Has Fallen (2019), Hunter Killer (2018), and Geostorm (2017), however, if this new trailer for Greenland is anything to go by, this film will be intense.
End-of-the-world films all feature many of the same tropes and Greenland will likely follow suit, though it comes to us from promising director Ric Roman Waugh, who has directed some great films including the Dwayne Johnson-starring Snitch (2013) and the recent prison drama Shot Caller (2017).
There appears to be plenty of action in Greenland, (otherwise what type of Gerard Butler movie would it be if it didn’t?), but also a lot of genuine, edge-of-your-seat thrills.
The film is currently scheduled for an August 2020 release.
