The mighty Ford motor vehicle company sets out to dominate their rival, Ferrari, at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race in Ford v Ferrari.
The film follows automotive expert Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) and his British driver, Ken Miles (Christian Bale), who are tasked by Ford to build the new Ford GT40 in an effort to defeat the powerhouse Ferrari team at the next 24 Hours Le Mans race.
The second trailer for the film highlights the relationship between Shelby and Miles, which appears to be friendly, yet volatile.
We get to see some of the racing action in the film as well as glimpses of the lead-up to the main race, where our film’s leads go through the difficult process of building the car.
The trailer sets a dramatic tone for the film, though it’s filled with plenty of humour as well.
Matt Damon and Christian bale both appear to be in top form in this one and their chemistry seems natural and unforced, making for a powerhouse acting duo.
Ford v Ferrari is based on a true story and is directed by James Mangold of Logan (2017), The Wolverine (2013), 3:10 to Yuma (2007) and Cop Land (1997) fame.
The film was released at the Telluride Film Festival on 30 August 30, 2019, and has already been met with some rave reviews.
