Roland Emmerich’s upcoming epic war movie Midway gets a new trailer featuring some awe-inspiring action with an incredible cast.
Midway follows the story of the US Navy and its efforts in the Battle of Midway during WWII; one of the most decisive battles of that period.
We see the story unfold from the point of view of Navy sailors and aviators as they discover plans unfolding by the Japanese for further attacks on the American pacific, post-Pearl Harbour.
Ed Skrein, who recently featured in 2019’s Alita: Battle Angel, 2018’s If Beale Street Could Talk and 2016’s Deadpool leads an all-star cast that also includes Aaron Eckhart, Dennis Quaid, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Nick Jonas, Patrick Wilson and Woody Harrelson.
Emmerich is best known for directing over-the-top blockbusters the likes of Independence Day (1996), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), 2012 (2009) and Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) amongst many others.
His movies are often hit-and-miss, though as far as producing action spectacles are concerned, he’s at the top of his game, and Midway looks to be his first attempt at an epic war film.
Midway doesn’t appear to bring anything new to the table story-wise based on this new trailer, though the action looks phenomenal.
It truly looks like a pure action blockbuster film that you can enjoy without needing to overthink and criticise its different aspects, which is all viewers want and need sometimes.
