Final Trailer for New Mob Movie with a Twist – ‘The Kitchen’

mob movies

The upcoming mob movie The Kitchen sees the wives of incarcerated gangsters take control of their husband’s shady operations into their own hands.

Set in 1970’s Hell’s Kitchen New York, The Kitchen sees three gangster’s wives, under oppression from their husband’s associates, take matters into their own hands to earn a buck while their spouses sit in jail.

The final trailer provides an overall summary of the film’s plot while setting the tone, though it doesn’t dig too deeply into the plot.

The film’s first trailer had a lot more in it and you can check it out here if you haven’t already.

The Kitchen is based on the DC Comics graphic novel miniseries of the same name and features an outstanding cast led by Tiffany Haddish, Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss.

We don’t see much of it in this final trailer, but there’s a fair bit of dark-comedy in this one and there will surely be plenty of violence (otherwise what kind of mob movie would it be?).

There are shades of Steve McQueen’s excellent film Widows (2018) here, though The Kitchen looks a fair bit more stylised.

Joining the above three actors in supporting roles are Domhnall Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Brian d’Arcy James, Margo Martindale, Common and Bill Camp.

This new addition to the popular mob movie sub-genre is directed by Andrea Berloff, who wrote the screenplay/story for Straight Outta Compton (2015).

See it in cinemas from 29 August 2019.
