Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has become a prominent fixture in the film world of late and next in line is his role in the upcoming science-fiction movie Rampage.

The film is based on the popular 1980’s video-game of the same name.

Due to hit cinemas in April of 2018, Rampage follows Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson) and George, a genetically modified ape, hell-bent on destroying the city of Chicago.

Davis is one of the few (if not the only) humans that George trusts, and when the unsuspecting ape becomes subject to genetic modification, Davis rallies to his side.

Also in the mix are a giant wolf and a Jurassic-sized crocodile – just in case the ape isn’t destructive enough for you on its own.

The trailer gives us a clear overview of the film and outlines what we can expect from the movie.

Featuring a few comic quips, the film looks to be following along with the growing trend of comedic integration into more serious storylines.

It will be interesting to see if Rampage will be just another King Kong-esque film or if it will stand apart in its genre.

Directed by Brad Peyton, Rampage is to be released on 20 April 2018 and also stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman and Naomie Harris.
