Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning play the last two people on earth in the new indie film I Think We’re Alone Now.
Dinklage plays Del, a recluse whose post-apocalyptic world is turned upside down when he finds out he’s not the last person on earth after all.
Fanning plays Grace, the second-last person on earth as she tries to form a friendship with Del, much to his dismay.
The trailer for Reed Morano’s film doesn’t reveal much by way of the film’s plot, however, it appears to be more of a character study rather than relying on a classic narrative.
The dynamic between the outgoing Grace and the introverted Del appears to be the film’s key focus, with the rest of the story playing second-to-that.
From the little we do see in the trailer, it looks as though Del is trying to figure out how and why everyone on earth has disappeared, save for himself and Grace.
I Think We’re Alone Now certainly appears to be a theme-driven film and could go either way on the entertainment-value front.
Its indie-film sensibilities may prove troublesome for a mainstream audience to attach to, however, it definitely looks like a must-watch for fans of either Dinklage or Fanning.
Director Reed Morano is best known for directing the highly regarded TV series The Handmaid’s Tale (2017-), so fans of hers should tune in here also.
The film is due for release on 21 September 2018.
