David Harbour Brings ‘Hellboy’ to Life in First Trailer for Upcoming Reboot

The first trailer for Hellboy starring David Harbour has dropped, teasing a good time with plenty of laughs and demonic action, though it feels like we’ve seen it all before.

The hellish superhero, Hellboy (Harbour), caught between the natural and supernatural worlds, must partner up with a team of humans to take down an evil sorceress.

The trailer for the highly anticipated film gives fans their first look at Stranger Things standout, David Harbour, as the titular devil-horned beast.

There was some dismay from fans initially about another actor stepping in to play the character made famous by Ron Perlman in Guillermo del Toro’s 2004 Hellboy film.

We received a first-look image of the actor in the role not long after, which pursuaded fans to give Harbour a chance.

Judging by this first trailer, it looks as though the actor has done the character justice while giving it enough of his own to not warrant a comparison with Perlman’s portrayal.

The film looks to contain plenty of dry humour, along with some excellent, demonic visual effects.

It also feels like it’s heavily centred on the origin story of Hellboy, which seems like a bit of a waste, considering it’s already been done before in del Toro’s version.

The plot also feels rather generic, meaning Harbour’s portrayal, the VFX and humour are likely what all this film will have going for it.

However, should director Neil Marshall nail those aspects, then audiences could still be in for a good time.

Joining harbour in the cast is Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim and Sasha Lane.

Hellboy hits cinemas on 11 April 2019.
