The hit cult horror film Creep (2014) is getting a sequel, and the first trailer for it has just dropped, seeing Mark Duplass return in the lead role.
Documentary filmmaker Sara (Desiree Akhavan) responds to internet ads from lonely men with peculiar intimacy issues as part of her online video series, however she may have made the biggest mistake of her life when she answers the call of self-professed serial killer Aaron (Mark Duplass).
Patrick Brice returns to direct the sequel to his cult-classic 2014 film Creep, which also sees the return of Mark Duplass as Aaron, the creep.
The film follows the found-footage style format, which is nothing new in the horror genre, but the writing and performances in the first film were top-notch, making Creep stand out from a crowded pack.
It went on to gain a huge following, which must be the reasoning behind this sequel, one that may not necessarily be warranted.
In any case, the trailer for the sequel does look interesting, even though it seems to be more of the same from the first film.
I can recommend anything that has Mark Duplass’ name attached to it, as the writer/director/producer has mastered the art of creating fantastic films on a micro-budget, ones that are especially good for people that are getting tired of the same old mainstream schlock we’re often used to.
Some standouts include Baghead (2008), Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011), The One I Love (2014) and The Overnight (2015).
All of those films are worth a look and they all feature Duplass in some capacity, be it on-screen or behind the scenes.
The Overnight was also directed by Creep 2’s director Patrick Brice, and is an outstanding indie film.
Check out the trailer below, and if there are any fans of the first film out there, let us know if you’re looking forward to this sequel in the comments.
The film is due to hit home video (presumably Netflix, where the first film debuted) on 24 October 2017, not a long wait at all!
