Christian Bale Transforms into Dick Cheney in Trailer for ‘Vice’

Christian Bale is back with another unrecognisable transformation as former US Vice President Dick Cheney, in this film about his life.

Vice follows the story of Dick Cheney, the most powerful US Vice President in history in George W. Bush’s (Sam Rockwell) run as President.

Oscar-winning director of The Big Short (2015), Adam McKay, is helming this new biopic and judging by the first trailer, the film looks to be a certain awards contender.

Bale continues his trend of transforming his body to play different characters, going from one extreme to the next, in this instance adding an enormous amount of extra weight.

The trailer features Sam Rockwell’s George W. Bush courting Cheney for the role of Vice Presidency, with flashes of elements from the VP’s life throughout.

McKay proved his dramatic chops with The Big Short after coming from a predominately comedy-directing background, and it looks like Vice could be another example of the director’s excellent dramatic skills.

Amy Adams and Steve Carell co-star as Lynne Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld respectively and the film is due out in cinemas on 21 December 2018.

Bale already has a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in 2011’s The Fighter – will his role here earn him a Best Actor win?

It seems a good chance.
