‘World of Aladdin’ Video Highlights the Film’s Awesome Production Design

best production design in movies

The cast and crew of Disney’s Aladdin live-action remake talk about the film’s outstanding production design in this new video featurette.

The video highlights the inspiration behind the fictional Arabian city of Agrabah in Disney’s Aladdin.

It was surprising to see just how many of the sets in the film were actually built and that the filmmakers chose to film on location in the hot desert.

For a film that will feature lots of CGI, it’s a credit to the filmmakers for trying to keep the non-CGI elements of the film as authentic as possible, and it looks like they’ve done a great job.

From the city itself to the various costume design elements, inspired by Arabic nations, the world in Aladdin looks fantastic and based on what’s revealed in the featurette, feels as genuine as possible.

The film’s practical production design should make a huge difference in the look-and-feel of Guy Ritchie’s latest, and when this much thought is put into it, it’s usually to a film’s benefit.

Aladdin stars Mena Massoud in the titular role, with Will Smith playing Genie and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine.

Marwan Kenzari plays the role of the film’s primary villain, Jafar.

See it in cinemas from 23 May 2019 and check out the film’s trailer here if you haven’t already.
