Comic-Con 2017 is underway, and with it comes a bunch of trailers for upcoming movies, including the crazy new one for Thor: Ragnarok, crazy-good that is.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) teams up with the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his brother Loki (Tim Hiddleston) and newcomer Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), to take on the evil God of Death Hela (Cate Blanchett), as she threatens to bring upon the end of days, aka Ragnarok, to Thor’s home planet of Asgard.
The retro vibe running through the trailer for this film is a welcome change to what we’ve seen so far in the Thor film franchise.
While even the first two films featured plenty of popping colours and dynamic visuals, along with a specific brand of humour only the Thor films have, it looks like Taika Waititi’s Ragnarok will take all of that to the next level.
Just in this new trailer from Comic-Con alone, we’re treated to a handful of stunning visual set pieces, setting the scene for what we can expect to see when the film releases.
Along with that, the retro electronic music makes the film look like it belongs in another era, and Cate Blanchett’s turn as the villain appears to work really well.
I can only hope her character is written with a bit of depth in mind, so as not to waste an exceptional talent such as her own.
With the trailer also came a new, brightly coloured poster, further enhancing the vibe the filmmakers are trying to set with this one.

Thor: Ragnarok hits cinemas on 26 October 2017.
