A trippy new poster for Doctor Strange has been released by Marvel, with star Benedict Cumberbatch front and centre, designed with surrealist inspiration.
The new poster is actually a backlight poster and you can see how it looks in both forms below.
As far as posters go, it’s definitely one of the better looking posters that have been produced for a comic-book film, with illustration of a professional quality, compared to some atrocious posters that have been released over the last few years for massive films, that look like they were done by first-time Photoshop users.
Doctor Strange is Marvel’s latest film in their ever-expanding slate of films based on characters made famous in their comic books and features one of the best cast lists of any Marvel movie to date, that aside from Cumberbatch also includes Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
From what we’ve seen in the trailers so far, Doctor Strange looks like it will be a fairly unique Marvel film, based on the magical undertones in the source material, which is something we’ve yet to see in their films.
The film is directed by Scott Derrickson of Sinister and Deliver Us from Evil fame, both of which were smaller-scale horror films, so it will be interesting to see how he handles a tentpole film such as this.
Doctor Strange releases across Australian cinemas on 27 October 2016.
