The classic Australian band Midnight Oil is the subject of a new documentary, due for release on a limited run across Australia in May.
The film focuses on the iconic band at the peak of their popularity in 1984, a time when Australians were living in fear of an impending global nuclear war.
The band’s charismatic frontman, Peter Garrett, was juggling leading Australia’s biggest band through energetic, nightly live rock shows, while leading the Nuclear Disarmament political party during the day.
This new documentary by Ray Argall covers both aspects of the band’s history during that period, which should be a treat for fans, but also for anyone interested in learning about some classic Aussie music culture, to the sounds of Midnight Oil’s hit tunes.
Midnight Oil 1984 will feature all-access backstage footage from the band’s biggest live shows, as well as music from their popular repertoire.
The documentary arrives on Australian theatres for a limited season on 10 May 2018, and you can secure your tickets here.
