Check out the highly anticipated trailer for renowned director Steve McQueen’s latest, Widows, featuring an outstanding ensemble cast.
Four women, widows of criminal men, take it upon themselves to continue their deceased husband’s work after being left with the proceeds of crime – a dangerous debt.
Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki and Cynthia Erivo play the widows, in a film with one of the best ensemble casts of 2018, that also includes the likes of Colin Farrell, Brian Tyree Henry, Daniel Kaluuya, Garret Dillahunt, Carrie Coon, Jacki Weaver, Jon Bernthal, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Robert Duvall and Liam Neeson.
Widows is Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen’s first, highly anticipated film since 12 Years a Slave (2013).
It’s a bit of a departure from the Shame (2011) and Hunger (2008) director’s typical style (in terms of themes), however as you’ll see in the trailer, his footprint is all over this film.
McQueen co-wrote the screenplay with Gillian Flynn, who famously wrote the best-selling novel Gone Girl, which itself was later adapted into a successful film by David Fincher.
Widows is based on the 1983 TV mini-series of the same name by Lynda La Plante and is due for release on 16 November 2018.
