‘Venom: The Last Dance’ Review: It’s Been a Slimy Journey

Venom: The Last Dance sticks to what made the first two films work—slapstick humor and the delightfully dysfunctional dynamic between Eddie and Venom.

More of the Same, and That’s a Good Thing

Once again, it’s packed with slapstick humour, showcasing the odd-couple dynamic between Eddie and Venom (Tom Hardy) that fans have come to love. Their bickering and physical comedy hits all the right beats, making for another funny, albeit familiar ride. The film doesn’t introduce any groundbreaking plot elements, but for those who want more of the same goofy, action-packed fun, this finale delivers.

The Plot at a Glance

In this final chapter, Eddie and Venom are fugitives, hunted by enemies from both Earth and the symbiote world. As the pressure mounts, they are faced with tough choices that will alter their future together. The film follows their journey as they navigate both external threats and their own evolving relationship, leading to an explosive and emotional final act.

Action Meets Emotion

Tom Hardy once again delivers a strong performance as Eddie, capturing the complex yet comical relationship with Venom. The film’s emotional core remains its strongest asset, with the connection between the symbiote and its host coming through clearly. For some added humour, Rhys Ifans has a small but hilarious role, providing an extra dose of comic relief.

Loose but Fun Duality

The series’ ongoing theme of duality—exploring the two personalities within Eddie and Venom—gets a lighthearted treatment here. Rather than diving deep into psychological territory, the film uses this theme to showcase their evolving, and often comical, relationship. It’s a playful way to explore character growth without taking itself too seriously.

Big, Bold, and Entertaining

Venom: The Last Dance is a pure action-adventure flick that doesn’t ask too much of its audience. Packed with thrilling set pieces, exciting battles, and plenty of humor, it’s the kind of film that’s perfect for a night of light entertainment. No need to overthink—just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Fun Fact:

This is Chiwetel Ejiofor’s 2nd Marvel role. He previously played as Mordo in Doctor Strange (2016) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). This is Rhys Ifans’s 2nd Marvel role as he previously played as Dr. Curtis Connors/The Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Venom: The Last Dance
A good laugh, some great action, and all the Venom you could want, even if it’s more of the same.
