Underworld: Blood Wars, the fifth film in the popular vampires vs werewolves action franchise gets a new trailer, starring Kate Beckinsale.
Judging by the trailer, you can expect to see more of the same shenanigans involving Selene’s (Beckinsale) vampire coven taking on the Lycans (werewolves), in a war that’s been raging for thousands of years.
The Underworld films haven’t been great from a critical perspective, but they’re still fun, action-packed, horror-fantasy films that served as a great star-vehicle for Beckinsale.
There’s always a market for films involving vampires and werewolves and the Underworld franchise is very established, so it’s no surprise there’s another addition to the series coming out.
One thing that was good about these films though, was their overall visual aesthetic, with cool looking vampires and werewolves, great settings and costume designs – and it looks like Blood Wars will continue that trend.
Beckinsale stars alongside Theo James, Lara Pulver and Charles Dance, and the film will be directed by Anna Foerster, who is most known for her TV directing gigs on shows like Criminal Minds and Outlander.
The trailer below suggests the film is due out on cinemas in November, however IMDB lists it as being due for release on 6 January 2017 in the USA, so we’ll need to check back on that bit of information soon for a confirmed date.
IMDB Synopsis:
Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) fights to end the eternal war between the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her.
