In the better part of a year now Netflix hasn’t seemed to shy away from exclusively bringing the blockbuster cinematic experience normally reserved for the movie theatre to the small screen, and here with the upcoming action film, Triple Frontier, it seems as though the trend is well and truly continuing.
Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Pedro Pascal and Charlie Hunnam play soldiers who risk their lives in an attempt to steal millions of dollars from a drug cartel, as their main motive is clear that their country hasn’t given them the dues they deserved.
Naturally, things don’t go according to plan and the stakes for each of the film’s protagonists, as well as a group of innocent locals getting out alive, begins to rise.
In what could be a by-the-numbers story judging by the trailer, Triple Frontier looks as though it could get by with enough tense and action-packed scenes along with a better-than-average cast to get us through the proceedings.
Whilst Triple Frontier is a Netflix exclusive, it also has a limited theatre run, showing promise that it could deliver on what looks to be an intense rollercoaster ride of survival and bravery, with a good dose of popcorn on the side.
It’s directed by J.C. Chandor and hits Netflix on 13 March 2019.
