The Sapphires (2012) director Wayne Blair returns with his latest heartwarming rom-com Top End Wedding, starring Gwilym Lee and Miranda Tapsell.
Ned (Lee) and Lauren (Tapsell) are a young couple in love who are due to celebrate their wedding day when they discover that Lauren’s mother has left her father and gone missing.
The couple will have ten days to find Lauren’s mother and reunite her parents before they can successfully celebrate their big day.
The film has the classic Australian rom-com vibe to it judging by the trailer and it looks like it ticks all the boxes for the genre.
Love, family, reconciliation and self-discovery are all themes present here along with a fair amount of charm and humour.
While it won’t likely bring anything new to the table, Top End Wedding and films like it are always good value, tending to leave audiences with a smile on their face at the end of it.
Since making her film debut in Blair’s The Sapphires back in 2012, Miranda Tapsell has worked mostly in TV, appearing in several different shows over the years.
Gwilym Lee also has an extensive background in TV but was most recently seen in the standout 2018 musical biopic Bohemian Rhapsody as Queen guitarist Brian May,
Top End Wedding hits cinemas on 2 May 2019, check out the trailer below.
