Rebel Wilson gets caught in a real-life rom-com in the upcoming film Isn’t It Romantic, co-starring fellow Aussie Liam Hemsworth.
Wilson plays Natalie, a young woman who has grown up with a love for romantic-comedy movies, only to figure out that life, isn’t like the movies.
One day, however, she bumps her head and finds she awakens inside a literal romantic-comedy life, where everything is peachy, just like in the movies.
The film is reminiscent of the recent Amy Schumer comedy I Feel Pretty, which saw Schumer bump her head and wake up with a completely different outlook on her appearance (of which she was unhappy with prior).
Similarly, Isn’t It Romantic places Wilson’s character in a world that she had only ever dreamed of, where she has a fully stocked amazing apartment and a good-looking romantic partner.
She too is now living the life one only dreams of as featured in her favourite movies.
It’s a funny concept, but it’s Rebel Wilson that is the highlight in the film’s first trailer.
Her particular brand of humour, along with some clever writing make for some laugh-out-loud moments in the trailer.
The film is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, whose credits include the awesome horror-comedy The Final Girls (2015) and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011).
Adam Devine, Liam Hemsworth and Priyanka Chopra round out the cast.
The film hits cinemas on 14 February 2019.
