The Legend of the Five follows a group of teens who get caught up in a mysterious magical land where they must fight to save the world.
Five teenagers discover a magical relic and are transported to a magical land where they obtain elemental powers beyond their imagination.
They soon become involved in a battle between good and evil, with the fate of the world in their hands.
The trailer gives us a good look at the diverse cast of characters along with an idea of the tone in the new fantasy film, which aims to be Australia’s answer to classics like Labyrinth (1986), The Dark Crystal (1982) and The NeverEnding Story (1984) – films which inspired debut director Joanne Samuel.
While shot on a much smaller scare compared to its Hollywood counterparts, The Legend of the Five is an ambitious attempt at transporting viewers into a uniquely creative fantasy landscape in a coming-of-age story with themes surrounding environmental protection.
The filmmakers appear to have created a well thought-out fantasy world with excellent production values which should appeal to audiences of the genre.
The Legend of the Five is brought to us from production house Filmink Presents, and will be available in Australia to rent and buy on Apple TV, Fetch, Foxtel Store, Google Play, Telstra TV, and YouTube on Wednesday, 23 September 2020.
It will be available in New Zealand to rent and buy on Sky Box Office, Apple TV, Google Play, and YouTube on the same day.
