What Men Want features Taraji P. Henson in this new comedy film from director Adam Shankman and the producers of Ride Along (2014) and Girls Trip (2017).
When Ali (Henson) fails to make partner at the male-dominated sports agency firm she works at, she gains an advantage over the men after an encounter allows her to hear men’s deepest inner thoughts.
The title is a play on words from the 2000 Mel Gibson/Helen Hunt film What Women Want as well as featuring a similar premise.
That film was a hoot, and going by the trailer, What Women Want also appears to highly entertaining.
The hearing-of-thoughts premise can make for some creative comedy angles, some of which we can see in the new trailer below.
Shankman’s past films include the likes of Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005), Hairspray (2007) and more recently, the poorly received Rock of Ages (2012).
His work has been mixed, however, What Men Want appears to show some promise.
Taraji P. Henson has lots of star power, recently starring in 2016’s Hidden Figures as well as 2008’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, for which she received an Oscar nomination.
Aldis Hodge, Richard Roundtree, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Tracy Morgan co-star.
What Men Want hits cinemas on 10 January 2019.
