Check out this hilarious re-cut trailer for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man (2002) to see Tobey Maguire play a perfectly cast villain.
You gotta love these re-cut trailers that make the film they’re parodying something completely different.
In this case, the seminal superhero movie Spider-Man gets the horror treatment and it works so well.
You can totally picture Tobey Maguire playing Peter Parker as a creepy, obsessive and murderous teenager after seeing the video.
It just goes to show what can be achieved in the editing room, with the use of specific music as well as visuals from the film at precise moments, to give the film a completely different tone.
The trailer reminds me of teen-thrillers from the 90’s and this horror version of Spider-Man is definitely one I would have wanted to see.
Since Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man came out in 2002, we’ve seen a total of 5 films based on the character, with Maguire and Andrew Garfield starring in 3 and 2 of those films respectively.
Next up to take on the role of Marvel’s most recognised superhero is Tom Holland, who will be starring in the 6th feature film based on the character in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Homecoming is due to hit cinemas on 6 July 2017, and if you’ve yet to see the trailer for that film, you can check it out here.
