Russell Crowe plays a man who is pushed to the edge following a road rage incident, inciting a dangerous sequence of events for the other party involved in Unhinged.
A woman encounters Crowe’s character (simply credited as ‘The Man’) at a traffic light and, running late for work, offends him by honking her car horn too loudly.
Requesting an apology that he never gets enrages The Man, and he turns his focus into making the woman’s life a living hell, resulting in a dangerous, psychological game of cat and mouse.
Unhinged is a new thriller film that is sure to have audiences on the edge of their seats.
It’s revealed in the trailer that The Man is having a really bad day, but we’re not told why which adds a bit of intrigue to his character.
Furthermore, the actions of the woman (Caren Pistorius) may have the audience siding with Russell Crowe on this occasion, making Unhinged the type of movie that finds the audience rooting for the villain, which always makes for a fun viewing experience.
Unhinged is reminiscent of the 1993 Michael Douglas classic Falling Down in some ways, only much cheesier.
Looking past some of its potential flaws, however, the film looks a good time.
Unhinged is directed by Derrick Borte and is due for release 1 July 2020.
