Rose Byrne has today been announced as the Head of Jury for the upcoming Tropfest short film festival, which celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The Golden-Globe nominated Australian film and TV actress has been tearing it up in Hollywood lately, with roles in the popular TV series Damages, as well as popular films like X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), Bad Neighbors 2 (2016) and Spy (2015).
On taking this most recent role, Byrne had this to say:
“I am thrilled to be heading up the jury in such an important year for Tropfest as it celebrates its 25th year. I have had the opportunity to be a part of Tropfest both in Australia and New York and am excited to see its new home in Parramatta in February.”
Tropfest is a short-film competition that sees its winners win a prestigious prize pack, that often includes a chance to me mentored by a leading Hollywood producer and get a film made, along with various other prizes.
Entries for Tropfest are open until December 15 and as is the case every year, all films need to include the Tropfest Signature Item, which is ‘Pineapple’ for this year.
Tropfest 25 is scheduled to be held at Parramatta Park in Sydney on Saturday, February 11, 2017.
