Rian Johnson directs an all-star cast in Knives Out, a classic murder-mystery tale surrounding an affluent, dysfunctional family.
A wealthy crime novelist, Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), dies on his 85th birthday under suspicious circumstances.
The police, as well as special investigator Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) are brought in to question the family and solve the mystery behind the death of the family’s patriarch.
We can immediately see that something is not right between the members of this family, most of which have a lot to gain from the death of Harlan.
As is often the case in films like these, the mystery is unravelled piece by piece as we discover the different motives for the murder that particular family members may have had.
The film looks pretty quirky, owing mostly to its colourful cast of characters that are portrayed by an all-star lineup which includes Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell, alongside Christopher Plummer and Daniel Craig.
Rian Johnson and his casting agent have at the very least acquired a super-talented cast for this one, though we can be sure to expect an entertaining romp from the Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) director.
Knives Out arrives in cinemas on 27 November 2019.
