Prequel Film ‘The King’s Man’ Reveals How the ‘Kingsman’ Was Born

kingsman prequel

The King’s Man tells the prequel story of how the ‘Kingsman’ (of the secret service variety) was born, with regular franchise director Matthew Vaughn back at the helm.

The third film in the popular franchise follows Ralph Fiennes’ Duke of Oxford and his protege Conrad’s (Harris Dickinson) mission to stop a collection of history’s worst tyrants from killing millions.

It’s the story behind the fictional ‘Kingsman’ secret service agency, as popularised in Vaughn’s first two films, Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017).

The first two films were met with mixed reactions from the critics but were liked enough by the fans to warrant this third prequel-sequel.

We’re not shown too much in this teaser trailer, though we’re treated to a voiceover about knowing one’s enemy as we see glimpses of the formation of the ‘Kingsman’, with its newest recruit Conrad being shown the ropes by the Fiennes character, Duke of Oxford.

Like the first two films, The King’s Man looks stylized and of course, stylish – with the dapper costuming the series is well known for back in a big way.

I haven’t been big on the Kingsman films myself but can definitely see the appeal.

Vaughn is a great director, so I imagine this new instalment should rake in some serious dollars for the franchise and for 20th Century Fox.

See it in cinemas from 14 February 2020,
