The director of Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) returns with his latest, a reimagining of the classic Peter Pan tale with the film, Wendy.
J.M. Barrie’s classic creation, Peter Pan, gets a raw treatment in director Benh Zeitlin’s upcoming fantasy-drama film Wendy.
In the film, Wendy gets lost on a mysterious island where time and aging have come to a halt.
There she’ll fight to save her family along with the perils associated with growing up.
Anyone that’s seen the Oscar-nominated Beasts of the Southern Wild will instantly recognise the director’s style in this film.
Zeitlin mixes a grounded reality with fantastical elements like no other, making for a truly visceral experience.
Beasts was a beautiful and heartwarming film and one that should be seen by all film fans.
Judging by the first trailer for Wendy, we should be set for more emotive viewing.
The trailer doesn’t give too much away in terms of the narrative, but anyone that’s familiar with the Peter Pan story will know what to expect.
Peter Pan has been around since 1902 and has been featured in various media over the last century, probably most famously on the silver screen in the Spielberg-directed Hook (1991), featuring the late Robin Williams.
The film is due out on 28 February 2020 and is one that’s not to be missed.
