Check out the new trailer for the Australian crime-drama West of Sunshine, with details on a national Q&A tour with the film’s director and star.
Jim (Damian Hill) is in up to his neck in gambling debts, owed to a dangerous loan shark.
Things go south when it’s determined he has less than a day to pay back a large sum to a violent loan shark, all while having to look after his young son, who is on school holidays.
The film’s new trailer offers a look at the tone set by first-time feature film director Jason Raftopoulos.
The film aims to follow in the raw, dramatic footsteps set forth by predecessors like Animal Kingdom (2010), telling a tight-knit story that at its core, revolves around family.
Furthermore, the film will likely explore the theme of how far one father will be willing to go to protect his family; a theme with universal values.
West of Sunshine premiered at this year’s Venice Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation.
Raftopoulos and lead actor Damian Hill will be travelling across Australia to host special premiere nights in each major city, where they will hold a Q&A session at each event.
