Angeline Jolie is back as the evil fairy Maleficent in the teaser trailer for the Disney sequel film, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Mistress of Evil picks up several years after 2014’s Maleficent and further explores the relationship between the titular character and Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning).
The teaser trailer for Disney’s upcoming film doesn’t give away anything plot-wise but does showcase some of the cool imagery we can expect to see in the film.
We’re also briefly introduced to a new human character, Queen Ingrith, played by screen veteran Michelle Pfeiffer.
The first Maleficent film was met with a mixed reaction by the critics, though it made $758.5 million USD at the global box office, which seems to have been enough to warrant a sequel.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Maleficent made her first appearance as the villain in Disney’s iconic film Sleeping Beauty (1959).
Mistress of Evil contains some high-fantasy concepts and should please fans of that particular sub-genre of film.
Joining Jolie, Fanning and Pfeiffer in supporting roles are Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, Ed Skrein and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
It hits cinemas on 17 October 2019.
