Time Moves at a Disturbing Pace in New M. Night Shyamalan Film ‘Old’

M. Night Shyamalan is back with a new horror-thriller, Old, and it looks like a disturbingly good mystery film.

Old follows a family on vacation at a secluded beach when they discover that time moves excessively fast there.

They begin to put years on their age within hours, with the threat of their whole lives passing by within a day.

Naturally, panic, thrills, and mystery follow.

There’s plenty of tension in the first trailer for Old from one of the masters of suspense, M. Night Shyamalan.

We catch a glimpse of the film’s characters aging significantly, causing terror amongst the featured family and the other beachgoers.

Dead bodies begin to wash ashore from the nearby hotel, and it’s insinuated that everyone is there for a reason, a sinister one.

The film stars Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Ken Leung, Rufus Sewell, Alex Wolff and Thomasin McKenzie, and is based on the graphic novel ‘Sandcastle’ by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters.

Shyamalan’s career has been up and down ever since breaking out with The Sixth Sense in 1999 but has recently been in form with hits like Split (2016) and Glass (2019), which concluded his Unbreakable (2000) trilogy.

Old looks mysterious and terrifying, which is a good sign the director is back at his best.

It releases on 22 July 2021.
