‘Long Story Short’ Trailer Promises a Humorous a Time-Hopping Rom-Com

long story short movie 2021

Rafe Spall plays a man who jumps forward a year in time each day as he learns the true value of enjoying life in the new romcom, Long Story Short.

Spall plays Teddy, a serial procrastinator who gives no mind to delaying the important things in his life, such as his wedding.

After a strange encounter with a woman (Noni Hazlehurst), Teddy wakes up the day after his eventual wedding a year into the future; his wife Leanne (Zahra Newman) now heavily pregnant.

The day after, his newborn daughter is a year old, the day after, there is another man in the picture, and so on, and so on.

With each day that passes, so do the years, and Teddy is forced to live each moment as if it’s his last, as he tries to win back the woman he loves.

Long Story Short features a unique cross of the time-travel and romantic comedy sub-genres of cinema, and it seems to work well.

While the themes aren’t very original, the premise allows Australian writer/director/actor Josh Lawson to have a lot of fun with the concept.

Rafe Spall and Zahra Newman seem to have great on-screen chemistry, and Noni Hazlehurst and comedian Ronny Chieng are nice additions to the supporting cast.

Check out Long Story Short in Australian cinemas from 11 February 2021.
