Basketball superstar LeBron James headlines the new Looney Tunes hybrid live-action cross animated film, Space Jam: A New Legacy.
LeBron James follows Michael Jordan’s footsteps taking on the lead role in the new Space Jam, a part that Jordan made famous back in 1996.
In Space Jam: A New Legacy, James plays himself, and after a super-computer villain (played by Don Cheadle) kidnaps his son, James must enter Tune World and play a basketball match alongside the Looney Tunes characters to save him.
It’s a similar premise to the original film, with the added upgrade of current-day VFX standards.
All of the essential Looney Tunes characters are here, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Marvin the Martian, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, and Marvin the Martian, amongst others.
The animation looks excellent, and LeBron James feels like a good fit for the role and is seemingly the only obvious choice.
The film itself looks like a lot of fun, and it seems like there’s plenty in it for a young audience and those that will be watching for nostalgia’s sake.
Space Jam: A New Legacy co-stars Zendaya and is due out on 15 July 2021.
