The brand new, action-packed second trailer for the upcoming monster film Kong: Skull Island has dropped, and it has me concerned for this film.
The concerning part is the difference between the tone set in this trailer and the one set in the first, Comic-Con trailer released earlier this year (see it here).
The issue being, that first trailer kept things simple, setting up a really dramatic and mysterious plot for the film, whereas this new trailer is just pure mainstream-style with balls-to-the-wall action.
I was really hoping Kong: Skull Island would have been something unique for the genre, but this is a blockbuster film after all, so I shouldn’t be surprised to see that it will likely just be another typical action-blockbuster.
The film sees a group of scientists and soldiers enter uncharted territories when they land on an island and discover that a giant ape-beast resides there, along with a number of other gigantic creatures, after which the action ensues.
Regardless of how the story goes in this film, we can be assured it will look amazing, as the cinematography, colour palette and visual effects all look stunning, as you’ll see in the trailer below.
We can only hope the filmmakers have a good story to back up the visuals and that everything is in balance.
We’ll find out soon enough, as Kong: Skull Island is due for release on 10 March 2017 in Australia.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
When a scientific expedition to an uncharted island awakens titanic forces of nature, a mission of discovery becomes an explosive war between monster and man.
